Driving in Oregon

Funny story from a few years ago. My family is driving from Cali to Portland as part of a vacation through the Northwest US and BC. It means a lot for us, since Portland is where my sister and I were born and it had been 15 years since we moved to Cali. Roughly 600 miles and 9 hours into the drive we reach Eugene, where we see the cars around us doing something that never happens in California.
They're all obeying the speed limit. LITERALLY. Almost as if there lives depended on it, and going even 1 mph over the limit would mean certain death.
So we're stuck behind these people, with their eyes glued to their speedometers, for the next 2 hours until we hit the Portland suburbs.
Wonder if Jacob had this problem when he brought Fakku! to Portlandia.

I never had this problem and I'm from California. If things slowed down to an uncomfortable pace, I just moved to the left lane. This was near the coastline though. Never mention you like Portlandia apparently though.

As for the road, it was the I-5 and they were in the fast lane too. All glaring at their instrument panels.

I just want to say - I live and drive in Oregon for my entire life. I once got pulled over and was given a $264 ticket for speeding 2 fucking miles over the speed limit.
TWO!
Cops here are assholes, and it's well-known that in clackamas county (the largest one in state, 4th largest in country) all the sherriffs are assholes (with a few special exceptions) because they're always on edge. I mean, they have good reasons to be but still.

Where in BC did your family go?Victoria.
Why Victoria? I ask because I've been there myself (I also have family near there in Sooke), but I'm not sure what the big draw there is. The imax theatre was pretty cool though.

My parents chose there 'cause they wanted to see the Butchart Gardens.

Be careful.
Some people might confuse you saying Driving in Oregon as meaning there's a lot of terrorist activity going on in Oregon.
You should explain that you really mean driving to avoid confusion.

Now that's a huge leap in logic if I've ever seen one.
I know you're being sarcastic, but you're still an idiot.

I live in oregon and my job is driving (medical transportation) here is what I know. Oregon has the lowest freeway speed of any state west of the Mississippi River, the left lane is not a fast lane nor is it a passing lane but people generally try to keep it clear or speed (but shit heads like to clog it).
As someone who has lived throughout the country Oregon drivers can be some of the most annoying, and courteous.
Also don't block intersections, or you'll get a ticket pretty quickly.

Your folks drove all that way, took a ferry across to a poo shaped island, just to see flowers!?

It was my first time in Canada and their first time in a while. The border guard in Sidney was pretty cool too.
