Why do you care if someone celebrates - and in IB no less? It is a small thing, mainly done for fun, and lets others know that you were not oblivious to your own post count.

I think you might be seeing the post as arrogant or a way of people saying "oh look! Now I am better than other people!" That isn't what it is at all - people who make celebratory elite/elder status threads will be just as fast to compliment you when you reach such a status.

There is nothing wrong being done, you are just being a killjoy.

Neko-chan: a valid point for sure, and to clarify, i'm really not trying to be a killjoy (once again, anyone who has read any of my threads know im not that serious a guy). it really is arrogant, boastful even.......but the prime concern is my lack of understanding why people give a shit what anyone else thinks, or why they think they need to be patted on the back for typing.

Why not include birthday threads in your argument? Might as well include all the other threads that garner attention and expect feedback. Why should they give a shit what other people think about them and their thread? Responding to people's opinions would be a waste of time too.

I don't think anyone cares what others think about their status or post count or even rep. But it is like a birthday - you still want others to know but if they don't care then it isn't going to bother you either.

It is more of a "Hey i made elite/elder isn't that neat guys?" than a "Yes! THANK GOD! I'VE BEEN WORKING FOR THIS ALL MY LIFE! IN YO FACE HATERS!"
Nobody needs a pat on the back - it is just something to talk about. The status its self is just a recognition of the users time spent on the forum, but it is only symbolic and I don't think anyone cares either way if you give them congrats or not.

Okay we have a problem here. You call us superior meaning in some way you feel inferior. This brings us to the question "who cares?" Like I said before: obviously you. You're beginning to sound like a wannabe who feels bitter but acts as if you're not affected. There is no reason why you must feel inferior in the internet so I believe you must fix that.
