Just babbling, but as a suggestion, why not make it a small clickable icon that goes to a small pop up page, then on that page is all of the ones that people want/use?

I saw that somewhere, it worked rather well. Can't remember where...

And actually, didn't it use to be that you had it on the left? I didn't mind it much, actually... the right is fine too, lol...
