I got about 10 hours in and gave up. The combat system and gameplay gave me such cancer, I had to amputate my left nut.

I love the first FF13 and even I don't get what this thread is about.
The combat system was literally a modern take of the ATB system everyone so loves to praise and overrate, don't be dumb.

No, crisis core is a modern take on the atb system everyone loves. Ff15, type 0 are all modern takes on it. 13 relies on paradigm shifts, which are god awful. The actually battle system would be alright if you didn't have to rely on paradigm shifts, and the weird upgrade grid.
Let's now forget it taking 20 hours before anything interesting happens, also it making you read hundreds of pages of back story if you want the story to make any kind of sense. As well as the shitty characters (some were good. To be fair though, most of the games had shitty characters. That's a staple of ff)
If it didn't have the battle system, I might've given it more of a chance to get good, and interesting. But, it all just added up, and I couldn't deal. Can't stand games that have a 'buffer' before the story/ game actually gets good. Unless it's short enough to get past.

Are you asking which character has a better sex life after the ending? Cause if so, I'd assume it'd be either Sarah, or Snow.

The Combat of the Game was fine. It was just the characters and story that ruined the game for me.

All of those are flat out action RPGs in the same vein as Tales of games, there's nothing ATB about them. Remember? ATB? Active Time Battle? Where you have to wait for a gauge to fill up before you can use an action instead of being able to freely use it when possible? Why does that sound familiar... oh right, because that's exactly what FF13 fucking had.
There was NO difference in 13's battle system when compared to the likes of 6, 7 and the rest before X, except it's segmented to let you use more actions per turn depending on their strength. This was actually a really favourite design point of mine, because these aren't sprites or polygons with limited animation anymore. These are full 3D models that are capable of showing much more realistic. You wanna know what happens when you get full 3D models only doing one action ever 10 seconds?
You get the overrated garbage pile that is FF12's combat. THAT was terrible.
Something else I will add though: I hated 12's system, and loved 13's. However, if I had to pick a game that truly modernized the ATB system into something that full takes advantage of technology these days, it's Xenoblade.

Added a new layer of depth not just to the battle but to each character in terms of strategy as well. And the upgrade grid was shit easy, it's basically a computer RPG's skill tree, or hell even FFX's sphere grid system (except not as easily breakable, you could get some weird combos in FFX).

I liked the direction even from early on, and Gran Pulse just opened up even more to me. And lol, shit was easy for me to get and I barely ever touched those Codex entries. Never do in any game. :y

(some were good. To be fair though, most of the games had shitty characters. That's a staple of ff)Thank god you at least acknowledge this. I love 13 honestly, but even I know it's not perfect. What really gets to me is when most every other "fan" shits on it and says the previous games were all masterpieces in comparison, when in reality I could not give any more shits about the FF7 or 8 or sometimes even 10's group.

calling someone on a hentai site a pervert is kind of stupid don't you think? Is anyone here not what the general population would refer to as a pervert?

As said, the atb part itself was fine, but the paradigm shift thing was woeful, which is part of the battle system, which is why it was bad.
And man, I'm not building up patience to sit through 20 hours of shit before something good happens. That's a full day (minus a few hours of sleep) worth of filler
