So, after much deliberation, several pages of PM's and some concept work, I've finally decided to get this down the road.
My own, semi-serious Role Play.
It doesn't have a name, for now, but it's set in space, if you have read the title.
Basically, the players take a role of a mercenary or corporate agent...or whatever strikes your fancy really, at the beginning of rather shitty XXII century.
You can travel the Solar System, meet new people, befriend some and kill even more.
Setting summary ahoy:
As a player, you can do what a player does - describe your struggles, and whatever you do in your free time. Of course, no merc is a merc without a jobs, which will be provided by your resident Game Masters, called Handlers. Handlers will organize the missions. These will range from eliminating gang members and recovering stolen data to assassinations. Missions can be carried out independently (for all you lone wolves out there) or in group of up to four people. Signing up for a missions is pretty simple. A handlers will post a mission offer, detailing it's general objective and rewards. First come, first served.
The missions will be carried out for variety of factions, with which your character can associate:
Naturally you're all affiliated with Nexus, one way or the other.
The actual missions are also started by Handler, who will describe how you (and/or your team) get into the area. Then, everyone will post their "narration" of the mission - what they're doing, how it involves other players etc. Once they do so twice, the Handler will post any mission updates - for example, if somebody will write that they triggered the alarm, then Handler will send enemy reinforcements in his phase. If not, then he will describe how the team proceeds forward etc...unless he plans on throwing in surprises. No job is ever so easy. If somebody has to leave during the mission, he can ask that someone would narrate for his character; If not, the team can call for reinforcements - i.e any other potential players. If there's no one, then leaving character is incapacitated. They'll return home unharmed though.
Now, a little about how you narrate your character. You can do it however you want, though the preferred (and by that I mean default) narration for this RP is something a la 3rd person novel narrator. I want people to actually put some effort into this, not just simplistic *I have done that, that over*. Well, you can actually, just incorporate something from your surroundings. Write how you're breaking through all of these mooks and then do *I did that, that*.
About teams: There can be a team on a mission, and a team in the RP. The "RP team" is different because this implies a merc band, which travels, lives and so on together. Players can arrange themselves in such groups, though they too can't be more than 4 people. Actual missions can be done thus by whole team, but also 4 people from 4 different teams. If the whole team wants to do a mission together, each member must report it individually.
Now, the mission rewards:
You get paid for missions. You can begin with a high-grade stuff, but if you want anything extra, you'll have to pay. I will not create any "stuff" - this is up to you - but I will be creating the price ranges for products categories. For example, a new handgun can cost anything between 5. - 20.000. That's where money comes in. Each mission will have a general pay (standard is about 500.000 to million) which will be divided between participants. General rule is that the higher the pay, the bigger the challenge. Also, if you want to make a "group budget", then your members must donate to it. Money is given to people, not groups they belong. And even if they're in your little group, there's nothing forcing them to share their money (well, other than peer pressure I guess?)
Between the missions, you're free to do what you want.
Now, the important stuff: CHARACTER CREATION
I will be giving some leeway in this, but as a rule of thumb, if you're good at something, you must suck at something else, or at least be distinctly average. It may be some skill, it may be a character flaw that can prove problematic during missions.
There is no magic, or any other ESP power in this universe, a decision I made after much deliberation. There are cyborgs though, as well as cybernetics. The rules on using those will be posted somewhere below.
You can create your own weapons. HOWEVER, in general, they'll have to follow the rules that were set for each weapon types:
If you come up with a weapon that doesn't fit any of these categories, send it's details my way and I'll see how to incorporate it.
Remember how I mentioned cybernetics? There are two types of them, minor and full cyborg. The rules for using cybernetics are posted below:
Oh yes, the IA, C, BC marks describe the heavy weapons ammo that given fighter can carry if it's armed with it.
If you have your own fighter design, and your really want it in the game, post it, or PM it to me. And then we'll see if it can fit in. If it can, then the list will be updated, with proper credits given to creator.
Now that we're through with this, we can focus on character backgrounds. I want people to actually think about characters they make, and I want them to make it consistent. You make his/her/it appearance based on some other character, but their skills, personality, background must all be yours.
For this reason, I have complied a list of prominent worlds and their culture, that is also a required background reading. Enjoy.
You'll see that most of these worlds give you a niche in which to create your own environments - I have only describe them in general. For example, there many more than 3 cities on Mars, and you're free to make a fourth. Same goes with the rest of planets - Their description involves only the "atmosphere" of the world, and I look forward to seeing how people will interpret it.
Don't be daunted if you think your character is not up to the par. I and Renovartio, who is my second on this, will be more than willing to help you in this. If you're embarrassed to post the profile publicly, then feel free to PM it to us.
THE SIGNING UPS WILL CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT FIVE DAYS. MEANING THAT THEY END ON THURSDAY 23rd AT 10:00 PM UTC+1 Time.
Everybody is welcomed. We're also looking for people who can be Handlers or if your prefer - Game Masters. You can still play the game as a player, but you're not allowed to give your playing character any benefits of being a Handler. And most certainly, you can't participate in your own missions.
I will end now this wall of text with my own submission, which is also a mark of what more-or-less I will be excepting to see:
See you soon, ladies and gentlemen.
Renevartio will also make a blank post on this page. It's intended to be blank, as it will be our way of making any updates without dragging out this one past.

One last notion regarding your equipment:
Starships
Since this is a Space RP, you can have a ship, on which you and your group will travel. As a rule however, it is a retrofitted civilian ship, with minimal (if any weapons). No one, and by that I mean NO ONE is allowed to fly battlecrusier. Those kind of ships are exclusively NPC.
You little yacht, or space fishing boat, can have a hangar tough. YES! That means you can have fighters! Which are generally better than your ship. Only, they can't really do interplanetary travel.
If you want a fighter, then you HAVE to choose one from this list - which also describes some gizmos you'll find on them.

Any questions are welcomed.
Be also advised that some stuff is not fully developed yet. This in particularly applies to space combat. If it proves either not well developed enough, or people will really want, those kind of things will be taken further.

Updates and Other Information:
F! IN SPACE Role Play Submissions
RP Format:
As far as I know there are 2 distinct RP styles.
Style 1) Story style. Which reads a bit like a Story. You write out dialogue and Actions with paragraphs and fine detail. (well not too detailed for most users).
Style 2) IM style. For those of you who like to RP in Chat Rooms or in Instant Message. You should know what it would be like. Each user posts script and actions in short IM like posts.
Both can be used to describe ones own actions or you can write out a groups actions. (So others may have partial control of your character. But generally this can only be done by those who trust others not to mess around).
Ihis RP we will be using Story Style. If your not able to do it or have trouble with it then use IM style. But we would like to avoid that if at all possible.

Imagine worst mine of Earth. Then add toxic fumes. Constant radiation. Small mining towns with international police that can't do a thing. Corporate wars. Hardcore miners. Exotic lava.
The combination results in Io. Basically, it's mining Wild Wild West. Only in hell on Earth.

Well, this wasn't intended to be your average CTaFG game.
(And I have forgotten to change a number of things to fine print)
I'll be leaving submissions go on for three days longer. If I won't be getting any more sign-ups, it'll be canceled.
