[font=verdana][color=green]Okay, I have a short list of anime that fit the bill.

- Special A. The main female character is a rival with a guy in her class ever since they were young and always comes second.

- Kare Kano. Main female character is the best at everything through hardwork. New transfer student just blitzes her in everything.

- Itazura na Kiss. Not very smart female character wants to be in the same class as a very smart male character.

- Bokura ga Ita. Doesn't really involve that dynamic of competition, but still cute all the same.

Random Recommendations:

- Kino no Tabi. Much like Aria and Kobato, in that it provides life lessons, but this is far more negative than the former two. Exists solely for the lessons, rather than character interaction.

- Kaiji. Nothing like anything else recommended. Purely here to show you what type of anime I really, really like.

Hhh.... can't get a good image of Tsukuyo. I guess Shiki and Reki will do.
