Mhmm, of course. I haven't watched much anime lately, but I can say safely that Nisemonogatari is more of the same... and I didn't like Bakemonogatari. Where do you stand?

I don't know, haven't had it myself, from what my friend who's survived it, he says its just lots of meat, cheese, and bacon.

I haven't been watching much either, but not by choice, by lack of subs I find acceptable. I am in the same situation as Luin ;_;

Actually I still haven't finished Bakemonogatari. From what I have seen, roughly ~3-4 episodes, it looks ok, but I have no idea what the central plot if any is, and the biggest thing is.... well, try not to judge me here everyone, but when a series spends most of it time with the main character talking to himself(out loud or inner thoughts) It just pushes me away. I am watching for interaction, not inner monologues. That's the similar reason I couldn't get past 2 episodes of Arakawa under the Bridge.

That is quite understandable. The only reason I've seen even one episode of that is because I was QCing it for ANBU.

Wow, someone felt the same(at least about Arakawa). A friend of mine loved it, and I don't know how. Then again he doesn't watch for story, he watching things for the sake of lols. He loved Detrioit Metal City.

Two 8oz burgers, bacon, cheese, some sausage meat and onion rings. Plus a side of chips. All for the bargain of a fiver. I need to visit my brother again...

Well, have you heard of Whiners.pro? It's a site that reviews anime subtitles, and the guy gave CMS his recommendation.

Let me break it to you; there isn't any central plot. It's basically split up into arcs, each of which is a rehash of the previous one. When the fanboys say "Oh, the story is so good!", I always say "Okay, so what happens in the story? What actually happens, apart from something we've already seen in other anime?". Have never got an answer I deem acceptable. They also claim there isn't any fanservice. Please. The whole anime is built around fanservice - lolis, tsunderes, crazy-psycho girls, cat girls, as well as boobs, panties and long legs. As you might tell, I don't like it very much. There is so much talking in it as well. Nothing happens for the majority of the episode, and then at the end, something happens so quickly that you are given whiplash.

I just... don't see why it's so hyped.

*shrugs* Bakemonogatari was interesting enough for me. Add the amazing animation and good music, and it well deserved its 9 on MAL. Nisemonogatari, however, just drags on and on and on without going anywhere most of the time... Somehow it seems like they just had to stretch it as much as they could to fill a whole season, if you can call 11 episodes that.

They're part of the whole experience as well, and therefore need to be considered too. Still, I agree that story is by far the most important part.

Yeah animations and music to help, but I also have seen series that don't look half as good as something I'd call a feast for the eyes, but the story is there so its all good in the end.

Anime is anime though Sam, everyone watches it for their own reasons, and fan service is everywhere in every type of show, it doesn't always represent moe, loli cat girls exposing their naughty bits or in some cases massive bits, all while making cute noises or shaking their hips. I am sure that's not what you define the word fan service as right? You forgot to add in that in mecha series series, fan service can be easily define as just seeing something with a whole lot of guns and beam blow something really big up, or the sequences where X amount of mechas become one big awesome one.

I don't know why it was hyped either, but Luin does have a point about animation. I can't argue with that. Its the reason why I gave it a try.

[font=verdana][color=green]Of course, fanservice is a very wide term. But in Bakemonogatari it was only going to involve a certain type of fanservice.

Howver, Kaiji is one anime where fanservice just doesn't exist. It's pure, gripping story. I would highly recommend it. It really makes you think, and reveals the utter despicable nature of humans.
