2. It's not about him making "one of our shitty threads", but him making a deliberate troll thread to replace an existing popular thread.
In any case, users from IB main are much more likely to consider themselves different from CTFG regulars than the other way around. I have to say that I liked IB a lot more before CTFG was split away from it, though. The split this has caused has made both sides unreasonably dislike each other without any real reason other than "not liking the posting style", and IB main threads have become quite a bit more crude and hateful compared to the fun place it was before the split. Even I do still occasionally post in IB and both IB and CTFG are always open on my computer, but it's just not as fun in the main part of IB as it used to be for me.

I'm not even sure you can call all of CTFG "all nice and friendly", but yes, it's what the café is aiming to be. Not because we feel all of the Internet should be like that, but, as you said, "that feelings is nice to have". This is just one small place to relax in the otherwise harsh net, nothing more.
