They think my coughing fits have been so bad lately that they're caused a little internal bleeding. I told them it was starting to make my ribs hurt too so they said I gotta take it easy and not cough so hard.

but coughing is a natural body function, you don't very much control over coughing gently or roughly

I'm starting to feel better today though so if my sickness goes I won;t need to anymore.

It is a reflex that comes with birth. Cannot override it. Can hold it down a second, but you will cough.

As a newborn, you cough out the fluids that might be in your airways after birth then scream for a good measure.

i have tried to hold it down a few time but that just makes it worse

Since trying to hold down pretty much equals to holding your breath.

Also, try to hold your breath very long time. When you reach your absolute limit, you will cough like lunatic since your lungs are contaminated with CO2 and coughing removes it fast
