Maybe the server can't handle it though, he really needs to sort that before anything else already. It just makes people rage quit the site all the time.

To cause any problems like this, these updates would need to affect most loaded pages, though. And I'm quite sure that would be mostly the forums, where no big changes have been made.

Server load should still not have changed that much, though. It's just the usual problems we've always had, not necessarily anything caused by the new updates.
