In the UK a car needs raod tax and that is based on the emission of the car.
people have choice of either to pay for 6 months or 12 months,
or they can set up a direct debit where they will take xxx amount per month or xxx amount every 6 months or the full bill every 12 months.
i pay for the full 12 months but do not take direct debit as that way i know when it will know what go out as if i set it up for direct debit for 12 months i will forget about it.
the road tax will cost £185 and the MOT will cost £35 looking at £220 in total about 250 euros/$275 US. that is if the car passes it MOT, if it fails then i will need to do the work that will make it pass

Why i get a feeling that all this is endless bureaucracy? Or I am misunderstanding MOT.

it is and it also greed as if i were to get the exact car, same engine size, colour, shape but be newer the road tax is cheaper, if people buy a brand new car that has small engine size you can on certain cars get free road tax, the government do this as they say newer cars produce less emissions but making a new car is more environmentally unfriendly then using old car until it dies.
but seeing as buying new cars we would pay VAT, the car company who makes them outside the UK will import them in and will have to pay import TAX which will be passed onto the buyer. And most people high up in the government has some sort connection with big companies so the more we buy the better the companies do and so the money will someway end up in hand of these people who are high up in the government.

i believe it will have its good and bad.
EU as a single market for trade is a good idea but not how its run at the moment, they are trying to be super state and not every country wants the same laws as the EU decided
