You should delete that if it makes you feel bad. It's how others perceive you but it's not what counts if they aren't the people you want to be seeing who you are anyway. Since it's just open to everyone and even people who don't know you just caught a glimpse of you every now and then can write on it and be completely off base!

Side note: I do wish more people would not care about rep, it's an utterly useless number that means absolutely nothing on these forums.

the previous system was you get 1 rep per 24 hours. That meant you'd have to think who to give it to.

the current system lets you dish out reps like candy on halloween. you can rep as much as you want, but only once per post - which means your daily rep intake is limited by the maount of posts made.
so it hasnt become wothless per se, there was an "inflation" for their worth.

I'd say it's the ability to use it more than once per day, which has also created these -rep attacks on multiple posts. Before the change, there may have been cases of the same post being daily -repped for weeks, but that took much more effort to accomplish and such silliness was far less widespread.

Yeah, I think it was an attempt to change Fakku into more of a Facebook. Jake doesn't care much about rep, even less than I do so when it's used as a weapon he is also the "people shouldn't care about rep" camp with me. Ill still do my job, make sure no one's abusing the system or using it in bad faith, but in the end we take our orders from the man upstairs.

The ones who care most about it are probably those who use it for the -rep attacks, though.

It does have a value but we cant enforce everyone to use it the same way; it's been corrupted. If people used rep sparingly and only on comments they really liked or valued and derepped only things they believe were truly deserving of it then rep would work out fine, but we have things like rep manipulation and rep wars. I can't get everyone to play along and be good, I might as well tell them that it doesn't mean anything, otherwise I would spend my days chasing abusers.

Isn't there any way Jacob can add a feature where staff can see who's giving reps so that you can catch the attackers/abusers?

There is already, but we have to jump through a bunch of hoops to figure it out, which is really not worth the hassle. So ill do it, but if I have to I'm going to come back irked.

There's 2 threads in ctfg I can't post a single thing in without each one getting attacked still.
