I like longs songs myself, actually. It's rather disappointing to see so many songs these days barely reach 4 minutes, if even that.

Radio, mostly. Live performances can sometimes go longer as well. You often see shorter versions of songs on the singles named "radio edit", though, with the album versions a bit longer.
Also, fun fact: Of the last 4 songs I've posted in the music thread, the shortest was 5:56. :D

Japan doesn't really do extended versions like us. Only radio edits and 'TV size' edits.

True enough, although I've still seen separate versions on albums in a couple of cases.
