Not as such, although I tend to mostly play with my Sentinel and Sorcerer, since they were the first characters I made on their respective sides. I do play the others as well, though, sometimes one of the additional characters made for trying different romances or dark/light choices too.

Ah, since I have a marauder I haven't played sentinel. I'm using the carnage spec and it feels like a berserker really. Made more sense for sith then jedi.

I have so many characters, worrying about using essentially the same advanced class as on the other side isn't even worth thinking about anymore. :D

I do like variety but I don't think its smart for me to over extend myself. If I make more characters then what I have now, ill run out of design ideas for them, and funding too. Having one of each adv class is plenty for me.

Well, I started out with almost that, with some exceptions, then went on to add another couple of characters to unlock all the species. And then went crazy and created all these characters for other romances that are mostly still on their starting planets or only done with that. Actually added a couple more during the Dark vs Light event, those made it much farther due to the event and are probably the only ones with finished outfits aside from most of the original 10 (Sage still needs something better, though) plus the Cathar Vanguard added later. Still need to add the DvL ones to TOR Fashion, though, and probably update some older ones who have been slightly tweaked later.

Normally I would post rants on my thread but this is all about the old republic and I know Luin plays it and doesn't look at my thread
The smuggler class in the old republic just doesn't make alot of sense to me. After their class story that is.
The idea of some random smuggler actually having the desire, equipment and skills to become some kind of galactic warrior is ridiculous. I cant come up with a convincing reason for this to happen. I really cant grasp how, you get republic big shots saying to themselves "We need someone capable of taking out huge amounts of enemies and do the most dangerous missions we have. Lets ask this one famous smuggler I've heard about."
going through the classes you got the Jedi and Sith with all their crazy force powers and just their position in the galactic stage. Then you have the commander of havoc squad the best soldiers in the republic. Then a bounty hunter whos whole way of life is to find and kill powerful targets, with a impressive arsenal of weaponry and finally a Imperial Cipher agent,The well trained, well equipped James Bond secret agents.
then you get a smuggler
how the fuck does that fit?

Well, apart from them being a standard class in SW RPGs thanks to one Han Solo, the backstory of the class was that the smugglers helped break the Mandalorian blockade during the war. For money, of course, but it's also implied that they would have more trouble operating under Imperial rule. And the class story starts with it just being business for you as well, until some bastard steals your ship, anyway. I guess it helps that, especially back when the game was released, you would have helped the Republic a lot along the way in your first chapter as well, so they would know you're good at this and as a smuggler not above some covert work. It's also just one senator and another famous smuggler getting you involved, so it's not like it would be a major Republic operation, especially considering their true motives. And you have to prove that you can be trusted a lot. And then again when it's your word against theirs in chapter 3...
I still see the Smuggler as the weakest of the stories, though, not because of the issue of whether the Republic should choose him as an operative or not. It's simply the least personal of the stories (or second, after the Trooper, but it makes sense for him to actually do his job), feeling as if you'd spend chapters 1 and 2 simply working for someone else without much say in the matter. And this after an actually great feeling prologue... Only in the last chapter you'll be your own master again and out for revenge. (But I do like how, despite all the deception, you'll end up hurting the Empire and helping the Republic anyway during chapter 2.)

Smuggler is the only class story I haven't finished yet beacuse I just can't get immersed in the character. Not to mention there is nothing about their game play that I really enjoy.
Im surprised you don't say Consular is the worst story, people seem to hate that one. It was fine for me though.
on the topic of stories, I haven't gotten to this part yet so no spoilers, but I have heard several people say the 2 newest expansions, Knights of the something something, are really awful. Did you think that too?

I personally liked them for the most part.
The other part of the original game I disliked was the Knight's chapter 2, where even worse than the Smuggler, you went from a celebrated hero to the junior member of a task force who had to just help the others with their missions, even if you did end up having to save them in the end...

The Knight makes up for it by having the most awesome ending/final boss out of all the class stories

True. And everything before chapter 2 is great as well. Which makes that part stand out even more and just not fit the tone of the classic heroic story told by the rest of his chapters.

I am kind of upset you don't get a special title on the Knight though. At least not that I remember. I mean
Jedi Consular = seat on the jedi council
Sith Inquisitor = seat on the dark council
Sith Warrior = special rank and title as "The Emperor's Wrath"
Jedi Knight = Nothing?

Everyone gets another title finishing that. Some better, some worse, but at least the Knight gets a title fitting their skills and standing among the Jedi.
