In all Queen is an alright band But they do have some great songs as horrible, songs, that I would easily take a shit onto and then light on fire. As does every band. I'm more into 1950-1970's than I am 1980's-present, when it comes down to American music.

Maybe I'm slightly biased because my mom raised me on The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, The Doors, Aerosmith, CCR, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and so many of the bands that really set the standard for music, period. I guess this is IC, so going so "into it" wouldn't be, well, you know, consistent.

If you want to go into band raising the bar, yes queen did that in a way, and to an extent but then look at music in general. Every day new artist come out with a new sound, music has evolved at every corner, with society.
Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Handle, Louie Armstrong, The Kingsmen(the people who sang Louie Louie), Elvis, Hendrix, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, 2pac, Nirvana, Meticilica. The list goes on. Singling out one band from an era as being great is like saying the sun is not 93 billion miles from earth.
It's not just one band that makes or breaks an era, it's a combination of multiple bands and artist that make an era what it is.

also, it's alright to mention one band as being the quintessential group to start a musical revolution, I would say the Beatles were epic and the first of their kind and I don't think many would disagree.
