Genometrics Concert Hall ~Mrgrgr!!!~

Staring down at the Nazi corpse I spotted what looked like a small book in one of the corpse’s pockets. I pick it up but before I am able to read it, Luna calls me over. I put it in my own pocket and forget about it for a while.

“Straha, is the EMP pulse coming from this area?”

“Let me check” I say as I pull out my compass. The magnetic pull on the needle is much stronger now. “Yes, it should be around here. It’s probably in this camp. It doesn’t look like a big camp and since we didn’t see anything outside it’s probably inside one of the buildings here.”

“So you say that sometimes you hunted Nazis. What are they doing here in Mundus Magicus?”

“Hell if I know. The Nazis were always seeking more power in order to give them an edge over other countries. I suspect that this camp was one of their attempts of getting more power. But by the look of that skeleton, it probably failed.”
I walk out of the building and follow the needle. Turns out the EMP really is in this camp.

“I think the EMP might be in that building over there.” I point to a dome shaped building at the center of the camp. This place sure is interesting. It’s clearly made to hold at least one hundred people judging from the size. I wonder how everything ended.

As we walk through the camp, I can’t help but feel an eerie sensation. It’s hard to say how long this place has been abandoned, but it has obviously been a long time. There are roots on the ground here and there where nature is starting to reclaim the area, there are weeds everywhere, and there are some visible bird nests on some of the roofs. The flag still waves, though. You’d expect it to be almost gone by now due to winds but it still waves.

I take out my compass again while I stand in front of the door or the domed building.

“Yup, this is definitely the source of the EMP.”
There is a very rusty looking lock on the door. The rust is only on the surface, however. Under the rust it’s still strong enough to resist an attempt to break it. Fortunately, I don’t need to. The wooden door that it holds closed looks pretty rotten. All this high island humidity has taken its toll on many things. A few good kicks and the door breaks away.

“What the?”

Maybe I should have expected this? The domed building isn’t all it seems to be.

“Stairs?” asked Luna

“And a ramp. This building is nothing but a cover for stairs and a ramp.”

“And big ones too. It looks like you could fit your whole ship through them.”

“Yeah…I wonder what’s down there? “

“It gets too dark to see. I looks scary”

“Well, we have to go down anyways. That’s where the EMP source is.”

“Uuu~ Do we really have to go down there?”

“Unless you want to live in this island, yes, we do. Besides, it’s not like you can be hurt.”

“Doesn’t mean I can’t be scared.”

“Heh, don’t worry I’ll make this quick.”

I’ll admit, though, this place looks pretty creepy. Comes complete with our (or my) echoing footsteps and liquid dripping somewhere off in the distance. If this was a scary movie this is where the monster would live.

“Don’t you have a flashlight?”

“I do. But the EMP disables it, remember?”

“Oh, yeah.”

“Hold on, let me try something”

Making my hand into a fist and putting my arm ahead of me, I recall a simple spell. The first spell I was taught, actually.

“Lux”

I open my fist and a brilliant ball of light emerges. It’s small but bright enough to illuminate a good amount of the area around me.

“It’s so bright!”

“It’s concentrated sun light. Basically, it’s a mini sun without the heat.”

“Cool! Now it’s not as dark any more.”

“And now we can see pretty far…interestingly far…”

Beyond the stairs and ramp was a grand sight.

“A...hangar?”
