Man, I don't like the fact that a lot of games that I'd really like to play put so much emphasis on online play/can only be played online. Not everyone has a connection that can handle it.

Well, Borderlands isn't like that. I'm playing through a lot of the single player campaign solo at the moment, but yeah there does seem to be more multiplayer these days. I wouldn't say single player is dying out though, thanks to indie games becoming even better these days.
