If only for but a moment.

But a moment is all I need.

It is your birthday today.

But why is that so special?

After all- with such irony that one can't help but contemplate the charade of the celebration- you have had practically nothing to do with your birth. Your birth is the result of the combined efforts of your mother, the hospital staff, and her friends and family.

To celebrate an event long ago past in which you literally did nothing seems a silly thing to observe- much less herald.

No- instead- I invite you to look out your window:

What do you see?

It is the world. It is worlds upon worlds- and they lay before your feet- awaiting for what you may happen upon them.

Just as how you have shaken the very foundations of your parents' world when you were naught but a hapless infant- think now of what visitations you may bring as one who stands on their own feet; steadfast and with ambition.

Forget your birthday as that random blip in the calendar that occasionally reminds people on Facebook who you are- you know who you are- Let your birthday be instead the reminder to the world that, on this day, came forth a force to be reckoned with.
