Have you ever had a gun pointed at you

Started to realize my family has a habit of this.
When I was very young, around 7-10, I don't remember. Three FBI agents came to arrest my mother's boyfriend over a threatening-ish letter he sent to judge regarding a custody battle.
The agents lacked a warrant, but one of them sounded like the boyfriend's friend so I let them in thinking it was a prank. And had guns (I think they were MP5s but had no knowledge of that back then)
Even after finding out I was a kid, they didn't take the guns off of me until they took me outside.
Since I let them in, they were able to arrest the boyfriend without a warrant. My bad. But then all three of the dumbass agents left the house at the same time, and suddenly decided they wanted to come back in to find some evidence or something and my mother denied entry the second time (they hadn't even gotten in their car yet).
She even made some slightly racist remarks on one of the black agents after refusing him entry (The other two agents laughed at that) To be fair he was kind of a dick the entire time.

This is not IB material. It belongs in random. Not sure if someone already made a topic on this though, haven't paid much attention to random lately.

They point guns at kids too? Man that's just wrong.Agents mate. They don't particularly have a lay back attitude like some police do.

My mother went to make a statement as a witness (audible) to an attempted murder. While hanging out with friends, one of the men there was a meth dealer, and at some point during the party he realized that a customer he had dealt with days earlier had ripped off 200 bucks off worth of meth off him.
So He set off to murder that customer immediately over 200 dollars and dragged everyone else with him. He stormed the customer's apartment, and shot some random woman who was running to save her baby.
No one died, but fast forward to the statement, my mother brought my cousin (who was in his early 20s at the time) with her to the police station for moral support. The detective said the statement would only take a few minutes. And left my cousin outside the station while my mother went to make the statement.
But my mother knew it would take hours because her knowledge of the incident was more than the police thought. So indeed it drug on for hours.
My mother kept asking the detective to get my cousin inside the station to sit with her. He said he would, but never did. After about 2 hours, my cousin gets bored and nervous that something is wrong, and walks towards my mother's car to grab some cigarettes.
The car was being used as bait apparently, and he was approached by SWAT team. My cousin has bipolar disorder and reacts very strongly to being restrained for any reason, especially if he is already upset by something else. He throws punches at anyone who tries to hold him down. He punched one of his teachers in middle school for it, and he punched those SWAT cops too. It took the entire SWAT team to wrestle him to the ground. (this cousin is like 6'4 and weighs over 300 lbs)
In the end though, he did get delivered to my mom inside the station. Beat to hell. My mom really gave the detective shit for this, for refusing to bring my cousin to safety when she asked him to do so multiple times and for not informing us that the car was baited. Essentially putting my cousin at risk.
My aunt got pissed at my mother for the same reasons though.

If you want to have some kind of series discussion about this, you should ask it to be moved to Serious Discussion or Random.
IB is mostly for trolls and people who complain about trolls.

That's actually some pretty heavy stuff.
No I haven't had someone point a gun directly at me. I live in a pretty sleepy town where nothing ever happens. My family might be racist and crazy but they're not stupid or completely socially incompetent.

Cops can arrest people without warrants depending on the situation.Wasn't your fault, OP
I think they had a warrant for his arrest.
But not to enter the home. He was just the boyfriend, not a permanent resident. (He was, but not on police records other than a "this is a place he might be" kind of thing.
By opening the door, I basically invited them in to carry out the warrant they did have.
He technically only got one year in federal prison for his threatening letter to the judge. But because he kept refusing to take a mental evaluation test, he was stuck there for almost twice as long until he finally started cooperating.

My family is technically middle class (or used to be when there actually was such a thing as middle class in America)
Yet a lot of them were involved in drugs. The drugs themselves weren't THAT much of a problem... it was the other people you become friends with when you are using drugs.
Once all of my relatives suddenly stopped using drugs to that extent, a lot of those people went away, and no violence like that has occurred since.
I think drugs are just as big of a problem, if not more so, for people who are rich. Because the rich can afford to use serious drugs. Yet I used to think drugs were a poor people problem when I was a child. I was obviously wrong.
