Just a rant about hollywood video, the rental store.

I'm big into renting games before I buy them, and the closest rental store is HV, so I naturally go there all the time. But recently, they've been complete asswholes.

Firstly, I apparently lost a game I returned 4 month's ago and they want to charge me for it. Why the fuck didn't they call me then?

Secondly, the people that work their hate me. I don't know why, they just do.

And lastly, every game I've rented over the past few weeks has had cracks or scratches all over it. Today I rented CoD4 cause I fucked up my copy. When I got to my car I checked the game and sure enough, scratched all to hell. Next copy they give me looks fine, so I head home, load up the 360 and am like "Fuck yeah, gonna beat some ass" then, "This game can only be played in an Xbox 360" Piece of shit CD, I think. I clean it off with a CD cleaner and it starts up fine, but then I get the Disk unreadable message.
I head back to HV, get another copy, test it on their onsite xbox, and it works fine. I take it out, and it fucking cracks in half. They blame me for it, and I tell them to fuck off. They try to follow me to my car, so I walk back in the store, pick up their 360, and tape it with duct tape from my car onto the window. I forgot to mention the people working there were short as hell, so they couldn't get it down for like 20 minutes till a friendly customer got it down for them.

I was watching from across the street. Never renting from there again, but may come in and fuck with them occasionally.

Am I a bad person for fucking with them, or is my sweet revenge well deserved?

hey dude don't even think twice about acting like dicks to them, if they were jerks to you then its only natural if you are one back to them. As for me I fucking hate renting games because the last time I did i popped it into my 360 and it made it freeze and then it the red rings of death. THREE OF THEM!! (fuck you assassins creed) but i still rent videos because a new Dvd player is only like 50$ compared to a 300$ xbox (i have an elite which is why its so expensive)

Damn that sucks. Never been red-ringed here, and I've had my H3 Special edition for a year and a half. I guess god said "I won't give you red ring, but have fun renting games bitch!"

I hope you don't get the Red Ring. Getting that sucks balls hardcore. I was playing Halo 3, then suddenly my screen froze so I reset it...red ring...FUCKK!!! Man that was the worst week for me. No Halo and I was on week break from school too...

Man, they work at Hollywood Video. Fuck 'em.
Although, they could have like...called the cops. Which might have sucked.

I rent through GameFly. Which is great because you don't have to deal with people.

Except for the mail man. His mail man could be a dick.

I used to rent games all the time, but after a while you just have to realize that it comes with serious drawbacks. People are dicks. Not just the people working there, but also the ones who rent the games. I'm assuming that people who aren't really qualified to even own a gaming system of any sort have been granted memberships, and it's these fuckers that ruin everything. How else do you get a disc scratched all to hell after the first damn day it has been available? What the fuck do people even do to these discs, try to get them into their system by use of the frisbee throw??

The worst part is probably trying to trade in what you have. Now I realize that ps2 games aren't worth that much anymore, but giving me a $1.50 for a brand new (non-sports related) game is a bit of an insult. Gah, gaming stores piss me off...maybe I'll try that GameFly thing...

I don't rent games, I borrow from my friend and if it's good, GameStop time 8)

You know.. it's cheaper in long run to purchase your own copy of CoD4.

Last time I ever rented a video game, it was back in n64 and dreamcast days. Those was good times.

But yeah, immature pricks rent v.games too so yeah theres a chance that discs is all scratched to hell.

But, insert one scratched disc= auto red ring of death? I feel for you man. I've never gotten a RRod so far, i consider myself lucky ><

I would say you handled that extremely well. The Xbox prank was hilarious. You should openly continue to fuck with them. They are movie rental employees for fucks sake, that's like asking to be fucked with.

Man have I been out of the gaming loop lately, never even heard of the RRoD. I guess all microsoft products have to have something like that though.

Oh, and duct tape is your friend!
