There are two main differnces
1) No lag waiting for the next page to load.
2) CDisplay. It's a program that opens imagepacks and automatically fits them to the height or width of your monitor. It's a lot better experience seeing a whole page at once than having to pan over it, especially if there is a frame in the bottom right corner of a page that should be read before the frame in the top left.

I don't recall where I got my copy, as it's discontinued, but you should be able to find a copy easily enough (just virus scan anything that's not from an official site).
