My conclusion is that we lack the means to reach the truth, anymore.

Even "official" results are obscured by the sheer amount of misinformation flying around.

Just believing in things doesn't make them true, but sadly personal conclusions seem to be more accurate than "journalism" as of late.

Maybe if the major news outlets started fact checking and proving everything they said for a while, people would be able to take their word again.

Credibility is based on accuracy.
Accuracy is based on impartiality and objective/undeniable facts.
Those two platforms are social media platforms, which could enable individuals to spread information. Ergo because a lot of false information circulates these social media platforms absolutely everything and anything said in this platforms, even if posted by the old guard media, is false.
