I have no idea what movie you're talking about but I would think because of racism, they most likely thought that it'd be racist to only have blonde white guys and since nobody looks into the nordic religion before watching stuff like that they'd just get pissed off.

There was actually a HUGE controversy about the black guy being in Thor. Look it up, white supremacists got all butthurt and tried to do something about it, which they can't.
