I have diablo 2 sitting in the car at the moment... should get that out some time soon...The heat in a car is nothing compared to the hellfire Diablo lives with.
Played Diablo 1. Have not touched Diablo 2. Not a fan of the mouse-based motion interface.

I heard the Koreans beat it 6 hours after they got their games (â—†¿â—‘)
EDIT :
EDIT :
While many of you were staying up late, waiting for 12AM PDT last night, other gamers across the world were toiling away, hacking and slashing their way through Diablo III, as the servers were already up for Europe/Asia. It looks like their hard work payed off, as a group of Koreans have already cleared Diablo III on normal mode in under 5 hours.
SAUCE

Yet another reason why the game is horrible...

Recently, It seems to me that whenever a really hyped game comes out everyone is disappointed by it. It didn't live up to their hype. Diablo 3 isn't the best game ever as many people thought it would be. But I still find it enjoyable. I also don't find it to be very short. I was playing through it for like a week and never beat it. Of course I didn't play all day every day though. I'm still in the middle of playing it and I intend to continue.....eventually

By completely changing the mechanics of the game, taking out the points of appeal that Diablo II had, and replacing them with what we get now in D3, it just doesn't make this a good sequel to the franchise. Diablo and Diablo II + LOD all had a skill tree system that makes your character unique. In D3 EVERY single build can be simply changed whenever you want. You basically play the same thing as EVERY other person that uses the same class. You're not unique, you're exactly the same as anyone else. In Diablo 2, even if you were the same class you would eventually reach extremely different ends of the class' potential. All of the above is only one problem on one aspect of the game, with thousands more to be addressed.
I have found way too many flaws in the game that just doesn't let me sum them up without writing a ten-page research paper. Maybe I'm raging right now, bear with me. I have posted all over the forums about the game's problems, and I seriously think that Jay Wilson - The game director, should be fired for his failure on this game. Blizzard ruined their Warcraft franchise with the past few years of Wow. Starcraft is hanging on pretty well due to the professional and competitive e-sport nature involved. However, they just overkilled Diablo with D3.
The game itself, if not in the franchise, probably would be well received. The problem is that it's not Diablo. It might be a good game but it will never be a good sequel to Diablo.

Diablo 3 is weird. As much as I want to say the game is complete ass, the actual base combat itself is really zany and fun once the game gets difficult. At times, it's like a bullet-hell shooter with a RPG system.
Their paper-doll stuff is bad though. Items aren't nearly as cool as they should be up until Inferno when all the other stats start contributing significantly.
But yeah, normal was really bad. I didn't really start feeling the fun until Act 3 Hell.

James is almost capped on his first character. I don't think it's really for me.. I can't customize my 'hero' at all, which sort of makes me feel like I'm just a begrudging participant in someone else' story, which is the exact opposite feeling I want to get when playing a game.
I'm genuinely interested in other peoples' opinions of this game.

So... you need character customization to really enjoy a game?
