Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the game does have a portion set in the Vietnam War, right?

Where do I begin? At no point in the entirety of the Vietnam War was ever a 11.5" barreled M-16 variant fielded. Eugene Stoner would have killed half the Pentagon and the weapon would have been shit (with a 1-12 twist barrel and Vietnam-era M193 loadings). Furthermore, every single M-16 upper receiver back then had the integrated carry-handle and A1 style rear sights, not a fucking flat-top and a flip-BUIS! Jesus Christ! The notion of a universal optics mounting system, let alone the 1913 Picatinny rail, was even conceived at that point! They wanted to mount the Colt 4x20 scope, that's fine, that's period-kosher, but do it how the US Army did, on the fukkin' carry handle! Fuck!

Sigh...At least the got one thing right and rendered the upper receivers without the forward-assist. (And I know it's Vietnam-Era solely because of the lack of FA's on the guns!)

Fuck Treyarch. First the COD franchise gets raped with geopolitical weapons inaccuracy, and now historical context issues? God damn...

I'm done with COD altogether.

I'm not saying I hate the game, MW2 was tits drizzled with caramel, it's just that the weapons were painfully inaccurate from a geopolitical stance. And now Black Ops threatens to do the same from a historical perspective. I think I even saw a SPAS-12 in the Vietnam part.

Well, if there wasn't that health retoring system, you would die every three seconds.The fact that you can take an amazing amount of bullet is also very realistic.
I guess I'd rather have something like health restoring places, like in ...hum Half Life for example.

And about weapons, I didn't really care, as long as you know, killing people and stuff...though fighting with a Famas was pretty funny...(since I'm french).

I blame activision, they just haaad to ruin infinity ward.

well COD4 was accurate enough... but i noted this too..... if they did push through with the game design..... then go to treyarch studios, go to the research section, and whack them with the M16/A1 using the butt of the gun.... if i get to see the L85 thar.... im happy....

COD is only in it for the cash now, With Black Ops coming out this early, I find they are just pulling games out to fast and its all going to hype (just like mw2).

They are simply trying to make the game more enjoyable with unrealistic designs and guns that were not invented at that era, Cod. You have ruined fps for me.

unlike MOH they stick to history.... COD tries to make it realistic..... but some doubt the authenticity of the gameplay.... its like 'you want realistic? we'll give you realistic.... close to it" for them after developing COD4 and the newest in near realistic, MW2.....

but look at it this way... its SUPPOSED to be black ops..... is NOT written in history.... we dont know if they did hold those guns..... the weapon introduction in history might be true to the outside..... the shotgun used for VW i think was a remington one.... dont blame teh designers since they want you to experience BLACK OPS..... most COD games focus on what happened IN THE CURRENT HISTORY.... this.... is..... how they rewrite the black op history....

Also, Black Ops is set during the Cold War. So, 1947-1991.
So, you don't know at what time those scenes are even taking place.

I agree, I dont look at it as a horrible game but I do think they left out something.

My understanding was that there was a Vietnam portion. The thick jungle was the biggest indicator for me. As late as 91 though...

Okay, the predecessor of the 1913 Picatinny rail was around during that period, but it was , FAIAP, useless as it was just a concept, very rarely used. And even black-ops wouldn't have used it because they would have just fabricated a special mount anyway.



I think I get what you're saying, but still,I doubt that black ops would have used the SPAS-12 even if it was secretly developed and used by the military, and then shown later to the public. The SPAS-12 is a horrendously complicated and hard-to-use shotgun, and after a few hundred rounds the safety would wear-out to the point where if you dropped it with a shell in the chamber it would go off.
