So I take it..The game actually sucks.
yes and no
Could you go into detail?
I kinda get the appeal of the game,
But there are times when I thought about playing it. However with the likes of Hawken and Phantasy Star I doubt there would be room for a third online game.
Though I hear from a lot of people that it is a timesink.

League of Legends can be summed up in one sentence:
"Boring to watch, fun to play."
That same statement can also be used to describe Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012 and Street Fighter x Tekken v2013.

[size=14]I really didn't like League when I played it. Probably to do with how casual a gamer I am.[/h]

From a player standpoint it's a fine game. It's a MOBA style game that relies heavily on teamwork. Each game lasts about 30-45 minutes on average and there are over 100 playable characters that are mostly unique within the game.
From a dev standpoint, it's terrible. The company that makes the game tries to control the metagame as well and they work on a bad business model- microtransactions in the game for purely visual changes, microtransactions for things that you can get just for playing anyway, and a new character every two weeks to keep interest high.
It's fun to play and a decent way to waste time.

The only multiplayer I play is with controllers and a couch. I don't touch online.

11/10 its been years since I had some quality couch play. We are talking about all night Streets of Rage 2 type binges.

oh crap metacontrolling.. hm. Though I totally understand the microtransaction thing, most online games are like that. It really depends on how they present it. Hawken is like that, you can obtain visual updates only by buying points. As long as it doesn't present itself as pay to win, I have no issue with that.

Is it really? I'm not a specialist but I've always thought LoL was the only f2p game that successfully exploited this kind of business model.
