the only problem is i can give 2 shits about smartphones. I use my ipod for internet browsing, music, and portable fap material stash (for times I can't access my computer). I don't really need a smartphone. having one that functions like a computer with interchangeable parts is nice, but i highly doubt it will get the funding needed.

A phone that is as customizable as a desktop is a great idea. But only an idea. Lets say this phone was actually made and sells at a reasonable price point. Where would it fit into the existing cell phone market?

That said, I would get one if I could replace the wireless blocks in it so I could switch between CDMA carriers (Verizon) and GSM ones (AT&T) at will.

Lets say someone with minimal technology experience gets one of these phones and it dies for some reason. How would the guy know what part of the phone is broken?
He can't diagnose the problem since he isn't good with electronics, and his phone is broken so he can't ask a friend.

Even if he gets a friend who knows electronics well, with phones/computers like this, you never know for sure.
"Uhh... Get a new motherboard...? Yeah, that's probably maybe it."

You know how people say that you should know a little this-or-that about computers if you want to custumize one, right ?
