It is established in the light novels. It is all the author's idea. I suppose they are going to end the anime with the conclusion to the story?

The final volume of the Oreimo light novel series is about to be released I think.

Oreimo is definitely entertaining but I hate getting emotionally involved with any anime. That is why I think I am going to stick to reading plot summaries or flip through novel translations. Watching it or even listening to it (even though I can't understand Japanese) may be something I don't want to do.

That aside, I love plot spoilers actually. Saves me the time to go through it.
