It came across my mind the other day that hentai is a fetish, and adult anime fetish so in the anime universe would hentai be like regular porn for us.....It's a question that will proba ably not have an answer for a very long time I'd imagine

It IS the same as in the real world. There are a few anime out there that have "eroge" loving characters, so basically, anime characters see hentai as we see hentai.

They are 'real' in their world.

Anime characters are not aware of us as viewers so as far as they are concerned they are 3D. So when an anime character watches an anime they are looking at what they would call 2D. Hentai looks the same to them as it does to us.

If anything we are considered 4D from their perspective and they can never interact with or perceive our existence. Similar to how we can never interact with them or anyone not 3D. Thats over thinking things though.
