I think it's the first generation bit that's a bigger influence, they come from a fairly rough area and bring most of their culture with them, which clashes with other cultures(EX: Somalians). There used to be race fights between the bigger groups(aside from white kids). Glad I got out of there.

That's pretty fucked up, in here the Indians are the one that act smart most of the time, especially during new year's eve, picking fight with random people just because they're in a group.

People love to categorize things. Everything has a place, and that's why stereotypes are born. There's always a grain of truth behind stereotypes, doesn't mean it's 100% accurate.
Different cultures do different things, and that even includes things as little as whether you grew up in a city, in the country, in the suburbs, etc.
I think people confuse stereotypes and prejudices with racism.
Racism is the belief that one race is superior to the other. It's where you look at someone of another race and think that they don't deserve the same things you do.
Seeing an Asian person and stereotyping them to be really good at math or bad at driving isn't racism.
Different cultures do different things, and that even includes things as little as whether you grew up in a city, in the country, in the suburbs, etc.
