Apparently, they made LOTS of money because of that Mio face. They dumped the Lucky star face idea and moved on making anime that is based on the facial framework of K-On.

They just made her look less cute and so modest with this look, despite the Mio popularity. Not sure how this will sit with a lot of Nibutani fans (and doujinshi fans) alike.
