Cars are freakin' tin cans on wheels these days.
I was stuck in this until these rescue team had to get the Jaws of Life to pry it open.
Why aren't roll cages mandatory?
I get crumple zones. But the damned roof shouldn't be one of them. Fat load of safety that afforded me.
Sonsabitches.
EDIT: I just realised that it's three years to the day since that happened.

Might as well make the damn things out of Fruit Loops.

Why aren't roll cages mandatory?Roll cages and space frame vehicles aren't cheap or easy to manufacture. Monocoque style vehicles are cheaper and easier to assemble while still meeting the safety standards of the local government. If roll cages had always been standard I dont think it would have made too much of a difference since businesses would have made them as cheaply as possible. The roll cage on a racecar is something else entirely.

Even got some of that mincemeat on me, since I was walking along the sidewalk not even 7 feet away.
I think that gave me one heckuva start on my road to desensitization- although I was somewhat traumatized at the time.
I think, anyways. I can't really remember the days after that very clearly.
@Butterfly: Yeah, I get that money matters- but it still irks me that the millions of vehicles on the road are able to achieve incredible speeds and yet have all the solidity of a bomb shelter made of glass.
