Ask me about it, if you wish.
On topic: I leave on June 1st to go to basic. Therein lies two problems.
1. What do I do until then? I was thinking of just running around, trying to find Ms. "Right Now"...or just working out. A lot.
2. I'm going to fucking Oklahoma. This would be a non-issue, as I won't leave the base for my time there. Does anybody know what the climate is like there? Afterwards, I'm going to Georgia...for a year. What/who is in Georgia, and should I fear for the little sanity I have left?
Also:
There's no internet at Basic. My posting is going to die...FAST.
I'm a Satellite Controller, if you're curious.
I joined because I had nothing but a shit job selling vacuums. I quit this shit job, and now have nothing again.

Air Force is actually laying off 6,000 men. The recruiter told me to come back in 6 months. (And, she was a bit of a bitch.)
I don't know where I'm going to be stationed, but OK is basic, and GA is....I don't remember the acronym. Speciality training.

Well yeah, general task of US Army is to be infantry, duh it's no brainer that you will get a bullet sponge job. >.>
Unless you apply for a specific job like driving a tank of whatever.
I can't help u much cuz I don't know much about the states you're going to sorry =/

Nah, they don't make people with high asvab scores carry rifles. They get the good jobs. 95 is a really high score. You just hear about all these people getting put into infantry because most people don't make high scores. My bf got high asvab and placement test scores so he got exactly the job he wanted.

So which base you going to be stationed at in Ga Audio?
* Fort Benning
Columbus, Georgia
* Fort Gillem
Forest Park, Georgia
* Fort Gordon
Richmond, Jefferson, McDuffie, Columbia County, Georgia
* Fort McPherson
East Point, Georgia
* Fort Stewart
Liberty County, Georgia
* Hunter Army Airfield
Savannah, Georgia
Any of these sound familiar?

I've been to Georgia but in my opinion, the areas surrounding the bases are always the same. Not just in Georgia but anywhere you are stationed - it is always some mid sized town where the locals say there is nothing to do. If you want to enjoy where you are stationed, you need to make an effort to go out and see the sights. But I dunno if the army allows newbies to leave the base freely, I think they make you stay on base.

Spoiler:
The job is in the contract. The reason there are a lot of horror stories is because after you go to MEPs (Military Entrance Processing) they're rushing you so much that you need to ASK to read it.
I walked in, and the dude said infantry. I had to spend five minutes with him, just to get him to call and see what else was out there. At the recruiter, I was told Combat Engineer, but there were no spots. Therefore, I chose between this (satt. control), cavalry scout (stryker brigade), or artillery spotter. Even that took actual work, and there was a whole other battle just to read before I signed.
Spoiler:
"You earn your weekends"
-Recruiter on secondary training.
I'm more concerned with the heat in OK than anything else. I'm just stressed about Georgia. I have family in The South, and crazy is putting things lightly. If there's something else to do, I want to do it.
Spoiler:
Either Benning or Gillem. I have to get my contract back out to check.
Spoiler:
I don't choose where I go for training. I can request after that, but I'll worry about it when I finish.
Spoiler:
I'll try to find time. I'm trying to work out at least 8 hours a day.
Spoiler:
Great coincidence. What'd you get signed up for?
