1-hour lunch breaks are awesome. For us 6 hours is 15, 8 hours is 30, anything over 8 is an hour. But that rarely happens. I think the last time I had an hour's break was 2 years ago when I was on Work Experience and not actually getting paid.
Wow these are short breaks o.o In Germany we get 30 Minutes for 6 hours and one hour for 9 hours of work.
In America, it's highly dependant on your employer and the company you work for.
My company gives really good medical/dental benefits, 401-K and 1-1.5 hour lunch breaks (dependant on your position. Managers get 1.5 hour lunches).
It's also worth noting that most employers won't do this, I just got really lucky to get into a good tech company by using connections.
Even though I just do CTS, I get $14.35* per hour.
*Note that this is my gross pay, about 25-30% comes out in taxes, depending on if I get overtime or not in that pay cycle. I usually make overtime in the second half of the month and get taxes closer to 30% taken out.

It is in the UK too. But the company I work for is relatively small so we don't get that many benefits other than the obligatory Staff Discount. We're also understaffed (out of 8 of us, 4 of us are able to work. 2 are on holiday, one's on bereavement, and the last one's gone AWOL) but they won't let us have more people because they're trying to cut costs wherever they can.
It's a shame we don't get longer breaks, it can be quite physically demanding.

The bad thing about businesses, in general, is that they tend to place profits before people.
However, we still need the products produced, especially by food companies.
There are companies that value a highly-motivated and happy workforce, such as where I work now, but those companies are quite few and far between nowadays.

Where do you work and why do you have a 1 hour lunch break?I work as IT and my breaks are an hour long. Usually office workers have breaks like that in my company. Production on the other hand does not. Kind of unfair, no?

Yeah. I work in a warehouse where I'm either dealing with moving around heavy boxes for shipping, or sublimating by an extremely hot oven all day. Plus, there's no AC in the warehouse and just a small fan in the sublimation room, but the office has really nice AC. My break is only 30 mins long. I work 8.5 hours. Also, the supervisor is an ass who keeps telling me to work faster, even when I'm ahead of schedule.
lol but I'm a masochist so it doesn't bother me.
