from Ershin: Those of you unfamiliar with the series might be wondering what the hell is up with Misaka's manner of speaking. Plenty of anime characters speak in the 3rd person, and it's supposed to come off as "childish"...but Misaka speaks in the extreme 3rd person and it comes off as robotic. Almost as if she's quoting another person entirely, which is kinda the point. Misaka is one of 20,000 clones of Mikoto Misaka, more or less created as targets for the villian Accelerator to "practice" on and become more powerful. They can communicate with one another using a psychic ability called "radio noise", and share their thoughts and memories across the Misaka Network. Because of this (and because of their intended purpose), they are encouraged not to think of themselves as individuals, and thus "Misaka" is more or less the collective, rather than an actual individual. The Misaka in this story is number 10,032, and she decides to rescue a cat in the episode she is introduced in, which is where this scenario comes from.
