Had never heard of it until this thread. Watched the intro and first few videos, still not really getting it. I'd probably have to watch them all to appreciate it but I'm not going to do that.
Also inb4 IB.

I had never heard of it either. I watched the intro video and it made me think this is some kind of Blair Witch Project thing.
EDIT: after watching a few more of the entries It seems to be some kind of slenderman thing. A slenderman looking guy is following this dude. I wonder if anyone thinks this is real?

It's a fag series that plays on the Slenderman myth. I watched 46 episodes for shits and giggles almost three years ago. Never watching it again because it was even more retarded than I thought it was.

I think that when seen as a work of fiction, the series is probably pretty good, but if you want us to believe thats reality then its fucking dumb

Firstly, Marble Hornets is what STARTED Slender Man. Something Awful came up with the Slender Man meme that permeates the net today. Most memes come from those forums, sadly...
Secondly, this is clearly a series made by film students who are using the "found footage" genre to create a story-project several years long. Just watch the later vids (like the ones I posted). It's SO not meant to be real. It's simply done straight as if it was to keep up the tone of the story. What is the story?
_Dude called Jerry got tapes of his best friend who was making a student film called Marble Hornets. However, after going through the tapes and sharing them with the net, he finds that his friend, now missing, was being stalked by something. The thing (never named Slender Man in the continuity) is something that is vaguely linked to their childhood and is related to two crazy fucks in masks. Twists and turns continue in the story and with each new vid more about the vanished ones, the masked kidnappers, and the supernatural suited being's relation to their childhood is revealed.
Good Points:
-The fact that these vids are uploaded on the net is lampshaded and even incorporated in the series, becoming a major plot point
-Never EVER does it name the thing as "Slender Man" (which is a fuckin' stupid name anyway) nor do they say even acknowledge the Slender Man internet stuff
-Interestingly enough, the thing has never once killed anyone outright. It's mindfucked tons of people and chased after them tons of times, but it never killed anyone. ...Just what the hell does it want, anyway?
-Comments are disabled. This is good, as some pre-teen jackass screaming FAP FAP FAP SLENDER FAP right under the "description" section with 500 thumbs up kinda ruins the atmosphere.
-Setting, atmosphere, and tone are consistent and well done in pretty much every video.
Bad Points
-This is clearly a pet project, so this series may not ever get an ending (though I hope it does)
-The videos are uploaded at random intervals and aren't always substantial in content
-The acting is...wonky, at best. Tim-chan is pretty good, I'll admit, but Alex fluctuates between "nerd rage" and "dork of fury". It's really hard to see this guy as a threat (until he brains a guy to death with a massive chuck of rock)
-I swear Jerry and Tim sound exactly alike. ...Not a big deal, but something to note.
I think you can dig it if you see it as for what it is: a unique indie horror series on the net.
If you can't get into the story too seriously, which I can but I understand if you can't, then you can also just watch it for a laugh. Every time Alex speaks he reminds me of that one kid who always whined about sucking at games. Whiny little murderous dork nerd cracks me up.
