I suggest you pick up something written by Anne Rice. There are vampires (usually), there are feelings, AND (bonus) she is a competent wordsmith. Don't let the high school reading level bruise your ego, bust through and it's worth it. (Not to mention she has some of the most practically useful rules for vampirism out there.....but I digress.)
