So, it's been a while since I bumped this, so I guess I'll give people an update too while I'm at it. My volunteer work at the local food bank has been going well, I finished being trained to do everything by now, so helping people out happens more smoothly. Also, I got a full-time job as a courtesy clerk / cashier for Safeway, starting at $10 per hour. I plan to move out of my parents' place shortly (September) and get my own place, I'll be saving my first 2 checks for that purpose. I already have a sizable deposit saved ($650), which will probably cover the extra move-in costs too.
In other news, I've learned to think about everything I say before I say it, so that I don't offend as many people, and also think about everyone else's situations, and not judging people simply based on their choices or interests. I'm no master at it, but I'm getting better, and making new friends along the way. I hope you guys are enjoying your lives as well.

Get a real job before moving out unless you want to hang yourself in a dingy apartment. Actual advice.
