I thought it was common knowledge that you're supposed to skip every other generation of Windows.
Which is why people tended to skip vista because 7 is essentially vista with most of the issues sorted out.

If you buy a computer instead of building it, especially for anything high end. You are doing it wrong. Build your own. It's easy and will save you a shit ton of money in the long run. Plus you know what parts you have and socket if you ever need to replace something or upgrade.

I got a desktop windows XP.
I don't know how to build or upgrade anything. I only used it to play GTA SA (touhou mod).
I'll never know what windows 8 or 7 look like or feels like. The shame of it all.

As far as I've seen with all the later Os', I'm just going to have to say that your not really missing much...
Of course, if you want to play any games that require DirectX 10 or up, you're going to have a bad time.
