Yay! It's starting! So, do you care? I'm betting on my Country to win!I don't care actually. I just don't like the way China has handled the matter so far, not to mention that it is an unfortunate timezone difference.

Not really. I find the current conflict between Russia and the Country of Georgia to be a little more interesting than the Olympics. I stopped caring about them when the bomb went off at the Atlanta Olympics in the 90's.

I care about them and won't miss any parts of it. I'm one of the hopes for the Olympics in 1010 in Vancouver in winter. So has an athlete myself, i'm always proud to support friends in the Olympics.
I don't care about how China handled the situation, Canada is cheap enough with they're olympic athlete and not watching it will only make things worst for them

I only like the winter Olympics with the bobsleds and the skiers n shit. The x-games totally kick its ass though. The lumberjack games kick ass too.

I don't really care all that much. I'll probably watch it from time to time just in case someone fucks up and gets hurt. I'm not wishing harm upon anyone, but you have to admit, sports accidents are usually funny. Same goes for circus accidents, which is probably the only reason I go anymore.

just finished watching the opening ceremony, pretty spectacular in my opinion, it's blinded with the traditional Chinese touch as well as the Western influences, though the "flyin Dutchman" was a real surprise in the end, but all in all, it's a great start.

First time I woke up early in years just so i could watch the Opening acts. Love them. I especially loved the part when the Canadian athletes finally arrived at the stadium. Wasn't really expecting all those cheers thought. Good stuff.

Yeah, I know. I was laughing at that whole thing. I bet Peter Mansbridge got mad in the booth at some point.

That may be true, but its not like I don't have respect for the athletes.

Come on man, by now you should know that I'm not dumb enough to attempt to rationalize the joy of seeing people getting hurt with respect for their abilities. To clarify what I meant, I don't just watch the Olympics because there is a chance that they might fuck up and get hurt. I do have respect for the athletes because they've obviously put a lot of time and effort into training to get where they are.
The fact of the matter is, even if its the most humiliating thing to them, I think its funny when people get hurt or just fuck up, even if I feel bad for them.

On a slightly related note, one of the gymnasts last night did a floor routine to "Break the Sword of Justice" by Yuki Kajiura, from Tsubasa.
I thought that was pretty awesome.

The IOC is nothing but a corrupt group looking for more money, and the Chinese are trying to cover up their releases of the gymnasts ages earlier on. Also, wars (Russia vs Georgia) are always interesting. O_o there was a bomb in the 90's Olympics? How'd I not hear about that. :?
