Popularity, earned or stolen?
Is popularity earned or stolen from others?

The question is simple: Do you think we earn our popularity, or do we simply drain it from others?

That sir is a pretty hard question. My post lacked intelligence so I have to say earned.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
Depends on one thing. Are we having the word popularity interchangeable with respectable? Usually if you're popular, it's cause you've done something to earn it from others. (I'll ignore stuff like high school. That was all a bunch of bullshit anyway.) I'll go with earned.

As for what you can be well known for it does include respect, but it's kind of a broad term. I guess it just depends on what your respected for. For example, one could be respected for their wealth, but another could be respected for their "good" actions. In this case the latter respect would be earned, but wealth in my eyes would be stolen.

I think it is earned by your actions and more specifically your actions that have a wide effect on people. It doesn't have to be a huge effect on people and they don't have to REALLY notice what you did, they just have to be aware of you.

Hm...well I almost thought this was internet popularity cause then my answer would be earned because of how i normally post
In rl my high school pop was i guess earned because of the weird things i did and ppl respected me only to a degree(and that degree being that I'm normal when i
m by myself ) but now since im in college i basically leech it off of other ppl since i hate college  but at least outside i earn it anyway.

I believe there is no such thing as popularity there is only money. If you have it people like you dispite how stupid and disgusting you might be, and if you dont then you better be hot.

And their are the artsy creative types too. They are both popular.

their not popular their clowns, and nobody really likes clowns.I'm terrified of clowns. Also, not all artsy types are clowns. If they were, we'd all be worshipping those "clowns" drawing all the hentai you fap to.

Ghandi had no money and he was pretty popular. Plus, I don't think I can name more then like five 2 people off the top of my head who I know of strictly because of their money.

What about famous manga artists (for example). You earn your popularity and respect based on your skill and your work. Not based on how much money you have.
