Long winters, cold summers, sparsely populated.
Also, it helps that 90% the 8000 people world-wide who actually speak my mother-tongue live here. And that I grew up around these parts.

Holy Shit, I feel SO sorry for you. I lived in Kokomo for one year and wanted to kill myself. Nothing but pregnant teenagers, weed smoking, corn fields, and bean fields.
I was afraid to even try to date anyone when I was in high school there. So many people slept with each other I was afraid of catching something.
The only place I really went to was DK's on every other Friday for concerts.
