After using sunny day it's pretty obvios on what you're planning to do next, so the other will just switch to a wall, this also applies to thunder-dance combo but swif swimmers become sweepers so it's more useful but then again fire gets a boost in sunny day /geek-mode-off

Sunny day makes every fire type move more powerful.

If you use a sunny day/solarbeam on with a grass type, it's easy as shit for a fast pokemon with ANY fire type move to come on and kill it since the sunny day powers it up (regardless if it's a stab fire move).
If you use a sunny day/solarbeam on withOUT a grass type, it doesn't have stab. So you might as well use hyperbeam or giga impact.

That's why you have variety of pokemon and diverse move sets. Venusaur with Chlorophyll outspeeds quite a bit, and can easily crush most fire types with an Earthquake.
