No offence, but I can see why the suicide rate is pretty high. Young country (so less contributions to sciences, arts etc - although I recall that some Australian scientists discovered that bacteria cause stomach ulcers by drinking some. Badass.), isolated, not a great history, and not much in the way of cultural identity...unless you count drinking. Lovely place to visit, but there's a reason that they have to entice so many skilled workers in.

Oh ho ho. You should visit NZ sometime if you think Australia has a bad drinking culture.

Also suicide rate is high because its based of per capita....Australia being a small country and all. And Australian education is one of the best in the world rofl. Why they get so many immigrants into the work force is for the ridiculous amounts of income you get for working in Australia, and for it also being a cheap well worth lifestyle to live in.
