Did I get that right, or did you mean to say something like "usually only manga get spin-offs before an anime is made".

I'm not sporting expertise here, so I'm genuinely wondering what you mean.

usually only Light Novels: Such as this one or Boku Wa Tomodachi, Oreimo, Maou, SAO will have spin-offs before an anime is made. Though a few of them will get the spin-offs after the anime.

Manga will usually only get spin-off after the anime.

which is why I find it irritating when people say they'll just read the book where the manga/ anime left off. It's a completely different experience.

They might be short on time, but I always find that if I pick something up in the middle, it doesn't work, and I've never been good at guessing what happened previously in western works, like Earthsea, Narnia, etc....

Apparently when I was young I read Narnia in the wrong order... now that I read them correctly, I actually know what the fuck is going on in the books.

I hate it when animes will jump around in the story. Like the Love Hina Anime. It was horrible.

I never saw love hina, but I hear from my friends that it was pretty confusing, and that the english dub screwed everything up.

If I want to start it, should I just read the manga instead? It's also complete, it looks like.

If I had to choose. I'd say never watch the anime. The manga is totally worth it though. My very first manga.
