Dururu influenced my life in a rather pathetic way. I was fascinated with "ninja" when I was reading it and yeah... was pretty pathetic.
I have to say my favorite part of SGT. Frog is either the afro-boogie man from early in the series or the crows from early in the series. They were memorable moments while everything else is fuzzy.

My favorite character is Giroro. He's da man, and a tragic character - more than Dororo I think. He is torn between his mission and the girl he loves - kinda poetic for a kids' show

If you read the manga, you notice how much the anime has been toned down.
But that kinda adds to its appeal, I think.

I know its hellachibi but yeah... that was the extent of my knowledge.
I was conditioned to there being less blood in the anime then manga so I really didn't notice much in terms of it being childish.

Its early in but I loved how pathetic Zororo was even if it was two panels.
