[Locked] Shotacon/Lolicon = Paedophilia?

I've seen this question being raised a few times before, does liking shotacon and lolicon make you a pedophile?

And should shotacon and lolicon be illegal?

According to that link, having an affection towards lolis is completely normal.

And liking lolicon does not make you a pedophile. I see a pedophile as someone who rapes or touches someone unwilling sexually.

It is near every countries in the world. Just that specific type isn't well known outside japan. You can be arrested everywhere just there isn't many cases on the records in the us. The grey area here is mangos and animus isn't life like enough to be a guaranteed conviction. There was a law where movies like American pie would be considered child porn since the actors are playing underage teens... but that's now gone.

Loli hentai is quite nice, but I just can't understand someone's attraction to kids IRL and have never experienced it even once. I don't know exactly what it is that makes the subject matter so different exactly. They definitely are pretty repellant in reality. Obnoxious and loud, gross with persistently sticky hands, just generally annoying. You'd figure they'd at least be cute, but no, they're covered in dirt with unkempt hair and probably smell foul too.

Otherwise, being a lolicon does not mean you are a pedophile. If you ever heard the term "3DPD" then it should make it pretty clear that manga children are NOT actual children or even come close to really replicating one. I myself like lolis, but would never do something with a real child. I'm not exactly fond of scarring children for life.

Lastly, the word pedophile has a very clear meaning. You can't separate it from children. What you are describing is a rapist or a molester and keep in mind that you can be a «closeted pedophile» without being a rapist. It is possible for a person to be a pedophile and never comitting one of the most hideous crimes imaginable. Your view seems very misguided.

Also, there is pleanty of loli stuff sold online from dl-site and other places so it isnt something the law can just up and charge peope as pediphiles for. But it generally tends to be a grey area of the law in the west and it varies by country.
As for what liking it makes you, the Pedo label largely misrepresents what a loli anime/manga fetish actually is so I dont think it is appropriate at all.

In the end, it is just a fetish. I have lots of different fetishes and continue to develop new ones overtime. I dont think people can or should be defined by a single fetish. I may find krystal from starfox hot but that doesnt make me a "furry". Etc etc.

Id rather tell it to the people who tried him by pointing out how convoluted and contradictory the law is given material containing lolis and shotas has been legally localized and sold in the states. I know theres been a few instances of people being charged like you say but theyre still all in all pretty rare so my original point stands. It isnt like the police are monitoring the interwebs planning to arrest and charge everyone who looks at loli material.

I guess the situation could be compared to piracy only with a far more frightening consequence should the law arbitrarily decide to condemn you while neglecting the other ubteen number of people who commit the exact same act.

The basic definition of Pedophilia is sexual desire in an adult for a child. So I agree with people calling it that in that sense. And I don't blame people for being disgusted, either. Sure, a kink is a kink, but there is no law that people have to kiss up your fetish so your feelings don't get hurt.

Now with that being said, it doesn't mean people are going to act on it even if they find children attractive. And some people only find the 2D children attractive. And you can find children attractive and not want to molest or rape children. One can all ways have morals regardless of their kink. It's not all black and white.

Just because you like Lolicon does not mean you will go out and rape real little girls, and just because you like animated little girls sexually does not mean you like real life little girls the same way.

I agree with you but I think there is a bit more to it.

The fact that we are talking about drawn characters makes a strong point that this is not child pornography in the sense that no kids were harmed in the making of this video (kinda sounds like a lame joke but I'm being serious). It also suggests that it shouldn't be illegal because people only seem to be interested in it because they are drawn. We can't, however, discard the possibility that some people could be using these materials in spite of the fact that they are drawn maybe as substitutes to child pornography.

I agree with you as well. Not to mention that because they are drawn there is also the factor of artistic license. There are those who are in it for the art.
