I believe sleep plays an important role in the construction and maintenance of a human being.
I'll give one strange example:
I was trying to learn a certain subject for years, and I couldn't figure it out. I never saw much progress. Then one day, got sick and slept for an entire weekend, and suddenly, everything became clear.
That subject ended up becoming my profession.
Pretty strange, but I credit that weekend of sleep.

I agree most people need alot of sleep to function right, think clearly, etc...
But I'm stuck with having it opposite....If I get more than 4 hours a night, I feel like shit when I wake up. If I get about 1~2 hours a night, I feel like god.
Though my unhealthy habbit of staying up a few days straight needs to be changed. I really only get about a max of 6 hours for one week...if im lucky. But that is only because my body is equipped to handle that type of a sleep pattern(I drove my mother crazy because I would never sleep as a baby/child). So yes, sleep can help. But it all depends on your bodies chemistry if you need alot or a little.
But these days, I'm just wayyyy too busy to sleep at all. I never knew what I was getting myself into when I moved away from my mother's house --__--. But alas I did, I'm working 6 days out of the week part time, going to college full time, and taking care of my girl...who doesn't have a job and is going to school by me paying for her ---__________________---...So I don't have any time for sleep besides friday and saturday.

When I get the chance to sleep early I end up sleeping as late as I usually do plus it's hard to sleep early when your body is used to sleeping late ><
