I must say I am really impressed. That Azu Doujin is one of the best I have ever read. Congrats on the release Ziggy and I wish you all the luck in the world in future endeavors.Haha, that K-ON! doujin was something else. It was really funny too, because I was talking to Nikon about how I was surprised how it really wasn't any different than working with a black and white doujin. He had said he hated them because of the transparent bubbles, and I kind of just said that I guess I was lucky, because there weren't any transparent bubbles in mine. Then lo and behold page 19 popped open and I cried on the inside for not looking at this doujin more carefully before starting it.

Downloading these now. Quite a strong start you have here; I must say, I'm impressed.
I read your statement that you wouldn't be comparing your version of Ring x Mama to SaHa's, but actually, I suggest otherwise. By comparing how your group does it versus how the other group does, you might get a few hints on what you can do better or differently.
That's what I do, at any rate.
I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with!
edit: Forgot to mention, I once toyed around with scanlating Ring x Mama myself over the past summer. However, the idea of tackling two volumes of Manabe Jouji's work all by myself... well, suffice it to say I was too intimidated to go through with it. I'm glad for guys like you and SaHa, who are braver than I in that respect.

I think what LD meant to say was, we weren't coming out and saying "Hey guys! We're doing what SaHa's doing!" by comparing. It was just a coincidence that SaHa started releasing Ring x Mama while we were as well. There's nothing competitive or ill willed about it.
And due to the fact SaHa is also releasing it, it made us step it up a notch with the translation, because there'd be the possibility of being compared to him, and as a new group - we didn't want any bad labels tossed our way before we got our foot in the door, so we are applying what you suggested needless to say. lol
But I do really appreciate your input :) It means a lot to have other translators commenting.

Keep up the good work guys! It looks like your did a good job considering you are still rather new. I hope to see more from you in the future. Also don't worry too much about SAHA. Just try to do your own thing and be unique.
Congrats on your first front page post.

I translated that and Left Style. Glad you liked it! I'll be working on DiNGDiNG 2 before too much longer. It's not actually a sequel though, which is a shame.Oh in that case, Sir, good work to you, too, of course. Redde, etc.!
I always suspected that AS' translation (while I am undoubtedly appreciative of it) of Ding Ding 2 left some things lost in translation, so your take on it will be a welcome addition, I am sure.
Also, I wouldn't worry about other translators beating you to the post, as it were - happens all the time, and to the best of us. So long as you enjoy what you're doing, it is of no import who has done what how many times before.

Ah this is nice, to think that the people that I know in the forum are forming a translation group. Keep it up guys, I'll be cheering for you. :)
Also thanks for the doujins and manga.

Ah, I understand completely. Last year, I was doing another Manabe Jouji release (he's popular, don't'cha know). This was before I had Photoshop, so I had to rely on others for the editing. My editor's tablet PC broke before he could finish, and it was more than a month before he could get it repaired/replaced. In the meantime, another translator had picked up, translated, and released his own version.
I hemmed and hawed a bit over whether I should release my version, since I didn't want to step on any toes, but in the end, I decided:
1. We'd already come this far, so why not?
2. Better to let the readers decide what they prefer.
3. I might learn something from this.
It turned out alright, I'd say.
Very nice work on the K-On! doujinshi, especially on page 19. That must have been hell to redraw. One of the main reasons why I don't do color doujinshi.

Ah! Thank you soo much for noticing that god forsaken page. I spent more time on that page then the entire doujin put together D;
But that situation is pretty much how it occurred with our group. (Why didn't you just download photoshop? Or was this before you had experience with PS in general?) I wanted to initially drop Ring x Mama, or at least I thought it might be a good idea, but after the group talked over it for a couple days we came to an agreement that we would keep it. It was just a little 'eeeh' about doing a release where an already known and respected translator had started.
Looking back though I'm glad we kept it, it's a fun h-manga to work with. I mentioned to LD yesterday that you could take out the h-scenes and it could be a full length anime series. Well okay, we can keep the h-scenes in.
But the next time someone suggests a full color doujin, I'm gonna be looking through it a bit more thoroughly before agreeing again. >/

Aren't you glad to have me? :D

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but you didn't translate Ding Ding, it was translated quite a while ago actually (as was its sequel). And Ring x Mama was already one of Sayo's donor projects.

You are mistaken, a phenomenon you are no doubt familiar with, unlike basic reading comprehension.
Ding Ding was translated by Anonymous Scanner; this translation is another, completely independent take on the same raw.
The same curious happenstance is to be found in the case of Ring x Mama.
All this has been explained in the course of this very thread.
