I remember when it actually motivated people to upload lol, and then it got removed temporarily and uploaders stopped along with it.

I forgot to turn them off again, so I saw I had a bit over 20 notifications.

I personally don't mind anonymous disapproval/scorn. I won't go as far as to say they don't matter since there is a correlation between good or useful post with +reps, and those with high -reps are usually shitty. Still not very important but it has some use.
